How 9-11 Changed My Life

It seemed to be just another day at school for me in my 7th grade history class during my father’s mid-career tour at Scott AFB, IL.  But little did I know, I was literally about to see history unfold.  After the first tower had been hit, our classroom television set was switched on to stay current with live news coverage.  The classroom was full of excited chatter.  Then the second plane entered the frame.  As the explosion penetrated through the south tower, all noise in the classroom ceased.  All that I could hear for several moments was the tremendous thumping of my heart and the muffled panic of the news reporter.  Than came the tears…. I had always looked up to my history teacher, Mr. Peterson, as my sole educational role model.  I had never seen him cry nor could ever imagine it.  When the tears began rolling down his cheeks from grief, I involuntarily followed suit.  That was when I truly realized that our country was under attack.

The next month I remember watching the night sky in Afghanistan (On television of course) being punctuated with the orange glow of explosions.  B-1′s, B-2′s and B-52′s executing explosive judgement on those that struck our nation.  This was but a minor recompense for the blood spilled on our homeland.  Each explosion wrote a new line in my history textbook.  I knew that history was in the making.  Just as I had read about Pearl Harbor in my text book, future generations would read about what I was seeing.  During this time, I was able to truly comprehend the price of freedom.  It’s not about vengeance or “An eye for an eye”, but for securing the freedom that our country is built upon.  Our nation is so blessed to be able to not only have freedom, but to have the resources and the brave men and women willing to sacrifice their lives for it.

MilitaryCarLot.com and MIlitaryCarDealers.com mean absolutely nothing without freedom.  There would simply be no point.  It is because of the men and women fighting for our country that we even have the privilege to offer this service.  So when the time comes to reflect on the events of September 11, I’m not going to try and convince you to buy a premium ad or even sign up for our newsletter.  The objective is simply this:  Be thankful for your freedom and to those that fight for it.  God Bless.

“Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me.” –President George W. Bush September 11, 2001.
