It’s been a few weeks since our exploits at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and we have got yet another auto show coming to our hometown of Dayton, OH. When life gives you lemons, you go to an auto show. Okay so that might not make total sense, but the Dayton Auto Show is exactly where we’ll be tomorrow! Although it’s likely impossible to top the marvels that we witnessed in Detroit, there is always more one can learn about cars and what the auto industry is cooking up for us.
We saw the unveiling of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette in Detroit. In all of its grandeur and shine, it was all too easy to visualize yourself in the driver’s seat barreling down an open road. Although it
lay still and silent, you could almost feel and hear the growl of the 450 horsepower engine that lay dormant under the hood. That’s just how it is at an auto show: The minds of car connoisseurs transform into factories of fantasy. Most of us however, will never own let alone drive a 2014 Corvette. And that’s okay.
There is much more than fantasy that one can take away from an auto show. Beyond the display of borderline extraterrestrial vehicles, this is a place where automakers unveil what they have to offer the every-day consumer. Instead of a salesman trying to push you toward a purchase, you get a well-informed representative to provide you with useful information about the car itself. Admission is usually a modest fee and you are guaranteed to learn a lot about what the auto industry has to offer you. You never know, you just might meet your next four-wheeled companion there!
